Hi guys,

I am seriously considering downsizing from my Lian Li A05N to a Q07 and I would almost certainly get a PicoPSU for it instead of using my Corsair HX620. What I want to know is that if, for example, I buy the PicoPSU 150-XT, would I then also have to get a 150w external transformer as well? I know that a transformer is required but am unsure as to whether I could just get a 90w version and the PicoPSU still produce 150W?

Cheers

You can use a lower powered block if you need to keep costs down initially and upgrade later.

I use a 100w block with my 120w pico psu and it works fine. :)

You might be pushing your luck a bit with a 90W brick to 150W power supply. Depends on the connection, but I might have a 120W knocking around.

Fair enough, I'll probably just go for a 150w brick anyway. It'll be powering pretty much my rig in sig and the great thing about the Pico is that i'll be able to use my TRUE Black as well! I won't be building it until September at the earliest, however as I'm spending all summer in america and don't really have the time here at uni to do it.

:p

I've actually decided to keep my Corsair HX620 after all. It would cost me less to buy a low profile heatsink to use with the Corsair than to change to a pico PSU as I wouldn't sell the Corsair anyway.
