Question about RAM timings

Hi all, I am hoping someone will be able to clarify something for me...

In my bios my ram is currently set to 4-4-4-10 1T, system is completely stable, passes memtest, survives linpack etc etc.

In CPU-z it reports my memory as 4-4-4-10 2T. So here is my question, is this because the setting in the bios is not taking effect? Or is this because CPU-Z is misreporting? Or could it be something else entirely?

I know that the 1T setting in the bios has at least some effect because if I set the ram to 1T at stock voltage the system won't post. I have to raise the voltage to get it to those timings.

Thanks in advance

CPU-Z has been known to be inaccurate in the past.

I'd bet that this was the case now. Especially since as you say, setting it with stock voltage wont post, so I'd imagine it is taking effect.

Have you got the latest version of CPU-Z?

downloaded it about a month or 2 ago I suppose. Don't know if it is the latest version but it is at least very recent. I will have a look

Edit: Yes it is, version 1.59. I guess I will just take this as misreporting then. System certainly seems very snappy. I was just curious

I'm glad it is but without a benchmark you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between 1T and 2T.

fair do's my point was more just that the thing seemed stable. Really, rather than being worried about performance gains, I was more interested to know whether the blooming thing was doing what I told it to, if you get what I mean :)

Edit: Whoops where are my manners... forgot to say thanks to everyone! :D

I had three or four ddr2 kits, none ever reported as running 1T command rate. I did run my previous ddr3 ocz reaper 6gb kit at 7-7-7-24 1T, needed a lot of qpi voltage. So set it to 2T, no noticeable difference in daily use. Hence ive kept my current 12gb kit at 2T, qpi is the same as i needed for the 6gb kit, though the current stuff runs at 9-9-9-27.
