Hi all (first post)

I'm in the process of building a rig that i will use as both family pc and gaming, but the gaming part will come at a later stage as GPU will be last to purchase.

So far I've currently bought:
Corsair Carbide 200R Black Midi Tower Gaming Case
GIGABYTE GA-B75M-D3H Intel B75 (Socket 1155) Micro-ATX Motherboard
500W Corsair Builder Series 500CX 80PLUS Bronze Power Supply
LiteOn 24x Internal SATA DVD RW Drive

I also bought off eBay someone who was selling 1x 4GB (1x4GB) Corsair Vengeance Low Profile (Blue) 12800U DDR3 Gaming Ram. (No problem yet, untill after i bought it i noticed what he said in the description)

'This Auction is for ;
4GB (1x4GB) Corsair Vengeance Low Profile (Blue) 12800U DDR3 Gaming Ram. Timings are 9-9-9-24. 1,5V, version 2.12. Originally from an 8gb (CML8GX3M2A1600C9B) set of two that was split up. Tested and Working.'

"Originally from an 8gb (CML8GX3M2A1600C9B) set of two that was split up"

Will this cause me any problems having only 1 of the set????

I hope to end my rig having 2 of these ram sticks but not this early as i intend to buy all my other bits and bobs over the next 2 months first.

End rig will hopefully inc:

Intel Xeon E3-1230 V2
GPU - between £150-£200 budget (unsure)
8GB (2x4GB) Corsair Vengeance Low Profile (Blue)
120GB Samsung 840 Series (SATA-III) Solid State Drive
2TB Western Digital Caviar Green
Cooler Master Hyper TX3 EVO Quiet CPU Cooler.

Cheers in advance for replies

It wont cause you any problems as such you just wont get max performance as the system requires two sticks to run dual channel mode.
