Question about refund from overclockers.

Hi guys, I'm still waiting on my refund from overclockers. If it's not in my bank in two days I'll contact them. I returned a gtx 670 which they received on the 31st May. I contacted them once it had been a week since I hadn't heard anything from them and I had no refund. They replied fast and said they spoke to the manager who is processing the refund now. That was on monday. I received an email which says the following:


A refund has been processed for 220228. Here are the details.

GX-182-OK - OcUK GeForce GTX 670 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Grap £266.66

Subtotal: £267.00
Vat: £53.00
Total: £320.00

Payment method: Credit / Debit Card MOTO

Credit and debit card refunds can take up to 5 working days to reach your account.

Can someone tell me why they haven't refunded the money I paid for delivery which was £10. I paid £16 to return it to them using parcel force next day delivery. So to find out they aren't refunding the delivery costs is very annoying. I'm not bad mouthing overclockers, I just want to know what has happened here as I'm entitled to the refund of the delivery as I returned it under DSR. Once the refund finally goes in which should be later today or Friday at the latest, I'll check to see if they have refunded the delivery costs or not.

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Andy Foster, operations director at the Trading Standards Institute, said: ''If there is a failure to refund delivery charges that is clearly wrong and we will interpret that to be a breach of contract."

Mr Foster said there were steps customers could take if the rules were not adhered to.

"What they should do is approach the retailer and ask them to give them their money back or they can take their case to the small claims court," he said.
 
I think it's likely an oversight. They've been helpful with any support threads I've created, especially 5UB, so I'd do as Arkanor suggested.. I'm pretty sure they'll know what the rules are so they'll either see it's a mistake quickly or explain why it isn't happening.

All I can think of is that you were outside of DSR mandatory 7 days but inside the extra 7 days that OcUK provide, perhaps policy is to still do a refund but not of delivery costs? Either that or if you didn't buy as a private individual?

I got an rma number on the 8th day of having the gpu. However isn't the standard 7 days, working days? So weekends don't count? In that case it would've been under the 7 days. Well I've posted in the customer service section now, so hopefully it gets sorted. Thanks guys.

You need to do a seperate refund for the return postage, or that's what I did. They obviously need proof of postage, or you could say it cost £100 to send back to them.

No they don't refund the cost of me sending it back to them, I'm aware of that. They are supposed to refund the amount I paid to have it delivered to my house.

Returning goods

Only if it is covered in the contract and the written information
can you require the consumer to pay for the cost of returning
the ordered goods. If the consumer then fails to return the
goods, or sends them at your expense, you can charge them
the direct cost to you of the return, even if you have already
refunded the consumer’s money. You are not allowed to
make any further charges, such as a restocking charge or an
administration charge.

If you do not include these details in the required written
information then you cannot charge anything. You can never
require consumers to pay the cost of returning substitute
goods. If the goods are faulty or do not comply with the
contract, you will have to pay for their return whatever the
circumstances.
 
Please make a thread in the customer service forum and we can look into this for you. :)

Refunding for the postage is separate to the product as we need the receipt of this so we can claim back and refund back to you. :)
 
I have just realised that it is a refund of the original shipping being refunded. Not entirely sure why that was not refunded! - We always refund this as standard, I shall get this sorted out for you as soon as possible. :)
