question about rockband ps3

is it possible to play this with disk 1 in the console and play songs that have been copied to hdd from disk 2 and vice versa?
Are the instruments compatable with other games ie guitar hero?

Songs from Rock Band 1 Export (for a fee, licensing reasons) into Rock Band 2. I think it's about £2.50 from the PS3 Store.

Ideally you want:

Rock Band 2
Instruments
Rent/Borrow Rock Band 1 & transfer songs
A very deep wallet for additional tracks

Have instruments for kids for xmas so will get rb2 disc and do as suggested

Also worth checking out Lego Rock Band due out 27th iirc

More pop/mainstream stuff but of course with Lego

(also exports, higher fee, one time export)

I believe their is a content filter that allows you to play any of your DLC in Lego Rock Band if it's considered 'clean' enough for the game
