I recently got a logitech Z5500 5.1 speaker system to go with my tv.

I have a Panasonic TX-L32S20B + freesat box + blueray player. (all linked up with hdmi).

The blue ray has a coax digital out. The freesat has both coax and optical out. The TV has optical out and phono out. I'm currently using the phono out on the tv as that's the only cable I have..

Question is, if I want to connect (digitally) my gear up to the z5500 5.1 system - do I connect the separate boxes up to the z5500, or do I use an optical cable from the tv alone?

I'm a bit of a noob with all this stuff, so apologies if this is basic stuff...

I believe....... You would connect the peripherals (not the speakers) to the TV. And then from the TV to the speakers.

Or you could connect both the peripherals to the speakers

Either way you're going to need a splitter of sorts.

You will need to connect your separate boxes to the digital optical & digital coax inputs on your z5500 pod to get 5.1 channel audio ;)

Connect them like this
1) blue ray to digital coax input
2) freesat to digital optical input
3) TV to Green 3.5mm input (If you want to)

(Your TV optical ouput will only output 2 channel audio )
Either way you're going to need a splitter of sorts.
No splitter needed
