I'm going to be upgrading my PC shortly, but will keep my current hard drive. If I take it out my old system and just place it in a new one, will it boot without any problems or not?
There's a slim-chance it will boot. But, its highly recommended to do a fresh install of OS to run-smoothly, avoid any issues, etc
Recommend you use a program like Acronis True Image to back-up entire partition/drive. From that you can recover any files, e-mails, etc & even some program settings (e.g. bookmarks, etc)
If it is a radical change then it will blue screen when you try and load up windows. Or it may still work without any problems.
If you get the blue screen you can just boot from the xp cd and select install and then repair the current install (it essentially installs windows over the top) and you dont lose any settings.
