hi guys , i just built a new pc 2 weeks ago and i have a question about what it does during boot up .

when i press the power button it goes through the normal system info and motherboard info and then starts the windows loading where the 4 colours come together to form the window , but just as the colours come together the pc switches off for an instant and switches back on in the home screen (normal screen as if nothing happened ) and you can work away , just wondering is it normal for the pc to switch off for an instant during the loading of windows , or what is going on ????

sorry i know its poorly explained but i dont know how else to describe

Are you sure it's your PC switching off and not your monitor reacting to the change in image/resolution.

If your PC switched off then it would start the whole boot process again so I doubt it's that.

well the back lit keyboard switches off aswell for a second and the pc beeps like it does , when i press the power button to start it up ??

the Monitor is a Dell Ultrasharp U2412M

Are you sure the PC is actually switching off?
Like do all the fan's power down?
My monitor goes off when it boots up and back on.

thanks for the replies lads :)

the thing is it didnt do this for the first week and a half , i used the pc ???

i dont know if the fans switch off , im at work at the moment but il check when i get home

My backlit keyboard turns off for a few seconds too, and there isn't a long enough delay for my monitor to turn off but I think it would if I didn't have an SSD in boot up. It is just a transition between the startup screen and login screen.
