Im about to buy these after weeks of research but i have a question.

Q1: It says in the description that it comes with..

- 1 x Active speaker
- 1 x Passive speaker
- 1 x 3.5mm to RCA connector cable

Does that mean i need an amp to get the passive speaker to work Or are they plug and play:( Thanks for your help!

N.B OOPs found some one on here askign the same question :D Nvm lol

Q2: Any idea how these perform on lower volume? In other words do you need them pumped up to get good quality.

No, it means that only one speaker has an Amp in it, but the 'active' speaker drives the passive one too :)

Not sure on quality as i've never used/heard them (they have decent reviews though), but i suspect they should be fine. You tend to lose some bass power/focus at quite low volume levels but that natural of all speakers.

great ty :d i couldnt wait and orderd them anyway. LIke you say they have some amazing reviews and im sure there an improvment over my built in LED tv speakers that buzz when (not sure if you have watched 24) but the clock beeps at the start of the adverts lol

I'm sure built in TV speakers are only there to murder as much of the audio as possible ;). The fact that most of them point backwards at your wall/window doesn't help much either!

I'm sure you won't be disappointed :)

Mine actully point downwards into the stand. :( My ex used to have one that pointed into the wall (and was wallmounted) and u could hear it in the next room better than you could in the room with the tv -_- it was stupid. Bloody LG :P

got mine on monday have had a few days to test them and most imprested with the top end.
the bass is what you would expect from a 4.5" driver.
i use them with the Xonar DG, using the flexbass to act as a cross over @120Hz, sending all the bass to my 12" sub and all the mid+top to the edifiers.
all in all very happy with the set up now.

They work below 120Hz, they just won't produce as good results as a more advanced speaker system i.e. bass ported or dedicated sub (which kinda goes without saying).

placement is the key, dont forget the edifiers are supposed to be monitors and that means you are supposed to sit right in front of them as that's how they are designed to work. the bass is going to be totally different if you use them in something approaching a tradition home theater setup with the speakers typically about 2m away. as an example of something almost completely opposite, i have a set of mission m71i's upfront in my setup, and my 15" sealed sub is crossed over at 60hz. Because im sitting against the rear wall, the boundary gain results in a the bass is fantastically flat response all the way down to 12hz :)

This is how mine are located:

There' isn't a great deal of bass, but you don't need it. I already have a 5.1 system for bass if I feel the need.

The sound quality is just so nice though!
