You couldnt be any more correct. Java in the first year.

THATS IT

The module list looks pretty good. Second year will get very interesting. :)

The university is quite similar to mine (Kingston) The requirements are the same and the modules are quite similar. :)

Im on for 10 Distictions and 2 merits. Not bothering with taking it up to a diploma.

Yeah im hoping its good, it was either that or computer studies, and comp sci just seemed to be a bit more challenging and varied so went for that.

/looks at time, eek. Better go to bed, gotta be up at 7 :p

My recommendation would be to enrol in either a college or in evening classes and do three A Levels either full- or part-time, depending on how you perceive your academic abilities. Then you should apply to university.

Be aware though that a Computer Science course is very heavy on the maths and very heavy on the programming, and that your experience of building and fixing PCs will probably not help you much at all.

Thanks for all the advice guys :)

I think for the minute I'm just gonna crack on with my CCNA course and get that done and then see how it goes from there, I might even get a job from doing it.

You could always check your local colleges to see if any of them offer Foundation Degree courses. I've just finished mine this year and will be starting my Honours in September (pending results). I left school with even worse grades than yours, in fact the best qualifications I have are an Adult Literacy Lv2, Adult Numeracy Lv2 and New CLAIT certificates. Anything's possible if you know how to blag marra, so stay positive. :D

Yeh try looking to do a foundation degree and then apply as a mature student, its pretty a financial thing, if you dont mind being in debt...anyone can get in eventually :p

Foundation degrees take 1 year, which means he'll be 18 going on 19, still too young to be a mature student.

well phate, i've just finished a CAD degree (2 weeks ago) at liverpool john moores university and personally i think u could get onto that course.

their entry requirements don't seem to count for much as a lot of my mates, and myself, had pretty poor results to that point. I was let on the course from a C grade psychology, and a D grade computing A-level.. and there were folks with worse than that.

The course was not the ideal course for me as i wanted to learn the ins and outs of product design, and the course was made up of some pretty ridiculous modules which went over my head (very mathy), but through a bit of self learning, i have managed to learn how to use a few packages, like solidworks, to a very high level, and pulled off enough modules to a decent standard, including a decent dissertation. Still waiting on my degree classification though so who knows...

If you are interested in it, look into the clearence system that uni's run, and if john moores have any spaces free on the course that haven't been filled, then bingo.. u may very well be in. It worked for some i know... in fact, i could have been one of them, not too sure.

Good luck n all, and liverpool is a great place by the way. Recommended highly. And i'm not on about the studying aspects :p
