Been given a dekstop to sort out, needs a replacement Motherboard.

I am in the process of waiting on one to arrive through the post.

Now I have the original Vista disc, but it is from 'Medion' and it says on the disc 'Recovery Disc' Windows Vista Home Premium SP1.

The product key sticker is also on the case.

Can I ask, can i just put this disc in when I have fitted the new motherboard and it will re install the OS fine or will there be a problem as the motherboard will be different than what medion supplied in the beginning. When it comes to activation?

thanks

Some will be just a standard Vista disc with some bloatware on there, others are an image which may bluescreen as its looking for a different board so drivers would cause issues. You may need to use a non-Medion Vista disc but its worth trying it first anyway.

It should activate fine.

thanks, just stuck it in my laptop to look what files are on, and it 'looks' like just vista install data.
