On my wage slip it says 'Annual Hols (incl 8 bank holidays) - 20 days

Does this mean I get paid for Good Friday, today and Monday?

I worked Good Friday however so doesn't that give me an extra days holiday?

Thanks

It looks to me like your annual holiday entitlement includes the bank holidays - from the way you have posted there anyway. Usually its 20 days plus Bank Hols.

Anyway, if you worked a bank holiday and you were supposed to be off, you should get a day in lieu. At least a day - sometimes it is a day and a half. But you really should speak to your employer as every company is different.

I suspect you are on a rota?

so in reality you only have 12 days holiday + bank holidays. so yes you should get payed if you booked them off work.

so you get paid a set amount each week? what ever hours you work, but it averages out over the year? if that is the case, you wont get paid unless you work them, and then its probably only normal pay.

not really you still only get 20days off, instead of having bank holidays off you just take it when you want. if you not rostered on a bank holiday you still get 20 days.

Ouch.

I get 28 days (pro rata now as I only work Tue-Fri) plus the bank holidays and an extra day off if the bank holiday falls on one of my days off (which as I have Mondays off is most of them). Statutory minimum holidays really suck.

Well I only got 12 days before and now its increased...

So for bank holiday pay im basically looking at what I usually get for holiday pay?

Either that and a day in lieu, or they might pay double time instead without the day in lieu. (I think that is legal but I'm not sure.) This is for the Good Friday that you worked, I mean.

You would be a bit better off asking them rather than on here ;)

Not compared to what a lot of lower paid jobs provided previously, ie. no paid holidays whatsoever, even public holidays.

Oh I agree it is better than it was before, however it still sucks. Far too much work in the work/life balance equation. Of course I would say that only doing 4 days a week and not an employer...

The government are supposedly going to increase the minimum to 28 days including public holidays, at some point.

Statutory holiday entitlement is one of the good things Labour have done, incidentally.

as it's rostaerd(some one help me out, how do I spell it) and bank holidays are included in the holiday, i expect it will be standard pay, no tile in lieu. that's how ours is, but it all depends on contract but i expect the pay for bank holidays is just included in your normal pay deal hence no extra money. As dirtydog says ask your manager.

I thought (due to some EU stuff) that they werent allowed to use bank holidays as your holiday entilment.. so it should be 20 days + bank holidays

I get 26 days + bankholidays and I only work on average a 4 day week.. so 2 months off if booked well..... :D

ta dirty dog..... here for more info

linky to gov site

edit: it's a proposed change I was thinking of.
small exsert:
"On the same day the Government also published a further consultation document on its proposals to implement the manifesto commitment to make paid time off for bank holidays additional to the current four-week holiday entitlement. Raising the holiday entitlement to 5.6 weeks is equivalent to an increase from 20 days to 28 days for someone working a five-day week."
