OK the other week I got myself a new one of these
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-009-PT&groupid=701&catid=2330&subcat=2348 as the one I had was getting a bit old looking , ...the question /advice I'm asking about is as follows , Firstly ( I have to say I don't use the stock fans , I'm using two eLoop noiseblocker 120mms )....when I use the Y splitter that came with the new Cooler the maximum RPMs I get is about 1450....when using the Y splitter from the older cooler the maximum RPMs I get is about 1650...same cooler and the same splitter...so why such a difference if the splitter is the same ?

thanx :)

Cheers for the advice .

You're welcome.

I suspect that the reason you haven't got much response is that your question isn't very clear. What are you asking exactly?

Are you asking why - with the same fan - you get a faster RPM with a different Y splitter? Or are you asking why two different fans are different RPM with the same splitter?

I wouldn't have thought that would happen, it looks like it comes with a voltage adapter cable, are you using that with the splitter?

well there is a cable that fits on to the CPU_FAN header and in the end of that the little Y splitter slots in to it ..and thats what I put the two fans in to

If you're plugging it into this cable:

It's a PWM controller cable which allows 3 pin fans to be controlled by PWM, this also lowers the max speed of tha fan, presumably because the controller is in the middle of the cable. If you don't need the PWM feature of the cable then you can take this away and use the Y splitter on it's own or use your old splitter.

What Skyfall said.

Which fans do you have; PH-F140TS or PH-F140HP? And if they are PH-F140HP are they 3-pin or 4-pin?

good to know this. Will be buying a fan controller soon and really never would have picked up on that till I made the mistake most likely
