Did the pencil mod on my Asus P5KC last night as i think i was suffering quite bad vdroop. Before the mod I was experimenting with the vcore set in BIOS at 1.45, this showed in cpu-z as 1.40 at idle and then 1.320 under load (so quite a big drop)

After having done the mod i am now getting 1.440 in cpu-z at idle and also under load (it doesnt change). I hope this is a good thing, but should it actually go down a bit under load for safety reasons or is it ok running the same at idle or under load???

That was only running at 2.93ghz and i wanted to go higher , and anything above that wasnt stable. To achieve 3.4 (325x8) i was having to run the vcore at 1.55v in the BIOS. Since the pencil mod i can set the vcore to 1.425 and its stable. Regardless of what i do I cant get any higher though which is frustrating

I am new to all this so probably not the best person to comment. Have you checked what happens to your core voltage when its under load as opposed to idle (using CPU-Z or similar)? Does ir drop a lot when stressed???
