Folks,

I have just noticed from YouTube about this game. It is a FPS game isn't it? Most impressive to me is that the Air action comprises of many different aircrafts and most important to me is that they all fly real fast, unlike some so called hard core flight sim where aircrafts flies like butterflies!

A question: Can you just jump into the game in single player mode and fly those aircrafts??

Thanks for your replies in advance!

PS when this game due out?

It is often branded as a military simulator rather than an FPS, but in the sense that it's (normally) first person and you're shooting, I'd say it's an FPS. :P

Flying the planes is pretty easy, vehicles aren't particularly simulator-like. You control flaps and that's about it - it locks on by itself etc. They are fast, there is a mod for a jet with afterburners that goes 1500+kph!

In single player, the open-world editor lets you put down anything on the map, so yes - get in and go!

ArmA III is due summer 2012, ArmA II is a worthwhile purchase. I think there is now a free version you might be able to try (avoid the demo, unless they've updated it it is pretty buggy).

Is that the same as America Army?

lol no.

Arma 2 is a clunky FPS, but it's not an FPS it's a military simulator.

There are a lot of tactics involved, support, logistics and radios, tank combat, air support, CAS, paradrops etc etc etc

It is not CoD, it is not Americas Army, nothing like it, and thats why its good!!!

If you want easy access multiplayer then play Arma: Project Reality http://www.realitymod.com/downloads.html#arma2

My team http://rustyinplaces.org have a large arma 2 and project reality team if you are interested.
