Hi there,

First time DIY'er here. I had bought an Asus Pundit P2-M2A690G -- to replace an old Dell desktop mail-dns-etc. server -- in early Feb and fitted it with:

Sony NEC Optiarc AD-7200S 20x DVD-RW,
Hitachi DeskStar 7K 160GB SATA II HDD
GeIL 2GB PC2-6400C4 DDR2 memory
and AMD 64 X2 4800+.

I removed 1 of the memory sticks as it caused memtest to blow up after about 20 sec (figured this out quickly enough, after a couple evenings of random freeze-ups).

I had the system up and running for about 3 weeks when it quit on me overnight -- it wouldn't even turn on when I hit the power switch. After I read some forums (including here) I tried a couple things, like removing everything I could in the system (network card, cpu, hdd, dvdrw, mem, even the CMOS battery at some point) and then hit the power -- nothing. Then that evening the system magically booted, and stayed up for all of 5 minutes before shutting off again. I tried half an hour later and same thing.

I figured it was either the motherboard or the PSU and decided to RMA the system. The RMA page wasn't especially descriptive (no indication of any problems found) ... so hoping I was just unlucky first time and it wasn't something like putting too much equipment in there for the 200W power supply

OC are saying the RMA is closed and I'll get a new box 'current stocks allowing'. So -- anyone had experience with the P2 pundit? Anything in this story raise any red flags?

Thanks.
