hello there

is there any one whos gone from a 8800gtx to a 8800gts and thaught that its worth saving the money for the performance difference?

and

is there any one whos gone from a 8800gts to a 8800gtx and thaught that the extra moneys worth the more performance?

thanks :)

okay cheers.

reason i made this post is because, reviews and stuff just say that there both brilliant obviously, and even more obviousely that the gtx is a lot better. but they never say if they think its worth getting a gtx for the performance difference. :)

Depends on what games you play and in what resolution, to be honest.

If you have a 30" TFT then obviously you'd want to go for the GTX (or two.) ;)

hmm i moved from a 7800GTX to an 8800GTX and tbh its great. it does run quieter and better than the 7800GTX, although it does idle a fair bit warmer!

and whilst a GTS may cut through games today, is 320MB enoug for really intensive games? im not so sure...

good point.

what does urs idle at btw? my 7800gtx idles at 32c in my 22c room right now and my pc has been on for exactly 8 hours,

and yep iv done the performance difference reviews but thats kind of not what im asking.

what i am asking is, is there any one whos felt guilty for spending for a GTX then gone to a GTS and felt good.

or did they still feel bad because then they had lower performance heh

:)

 high idle temps

alltho they do run 3dclocks 24/7 so i guess if mine was running 3dclocks it would be about that.

when i leave a idle game with non moving motion it stays at 50c ish.

full load at about 73c

ya but high idle is natural for this card.

infact think about the Yanks and what idle (and ambient) temps they must have. some must be hitting 100+ under load.

the drivers flag up any issues @ 127c and above so i dont think that 63deg is too much to worry about:)

What res do you play?

I went from 8800 GTX (sold at right time ;) ) to 8800 GTS 320MB and bought a EVGA as a stop gap card.

At 1650x 1080 I have no problems at all.

I get the same 06 mark running 650/2000 that I did with the GTX at stock.

Perfect :D

If you must have a GTX then go for it. Is it worth the extra over the GTS?

Not really unless you have a 24" Dell than a GTX is a must

i dunno, i have a dell 2407wfp and a 640mb gts and it seems to be running stuff fine at native res, max details and a bit of AA/AF.

yep i run 1680x1050 resolution for gaming.

but yet again this topic has changed from my origonal question..

because, i know the performance differences. but is there any one whos had both of the cards, and which one have you decided to stick with? thank you :)

Ok, I don't know if its my wireless on the 2nd rig or what.

I tried playing BF2142 on my first rig and 2nd right.

Somehow I feel that on 640MB GTS is a bit slower than GTX. :S
