Hi,

I have a fairly old pc, from tiny  athlon 2400, it does the job tho :) I was going to upgrade my ram, only have 2x256 DDR PC2100 what it came with, I have looked into it & my mobo MS-6390 can take DDR PC2700,DDR PC3200, DDR PC4000 with a maximum of 1GB per slot. My question is - If I buy a different PC numbered card would it be ok, i mean plug & play, Read up somewhere that someone went from PC2100 to PC3200 & had to tweek the Bios to make them work, as im a newby I dont want to be messing around with stuff I have no Idea about, thats why I came here ;) ;)

Cheers For reading :D

Will be fine, the higher clocked ram will adjust itself down using it's SPD tables.

DDR333(PC2700) is what you want, The cpu has a 166mhz FSB doesn't it?

Erm.... would you belive me if i said I dont know lol, well i dont :( imbarrased :(

It'll be a 133mhz fsb.

And yeah using faster RAM will be fine as the motherboard will happily down-clock it.

I'm running an Athlon 2400+ in my back-up rig and it runs fine with a 512mb stick of pc3200 running at pc2700 speeds.
