Question for FiiO X1 owners

I'm frustrated that I can't view tracks by title. There's an option in the settings to switch file name display between 'title' and 'file name'. It always displays the file name though, even when set to title.

Anyone else have an X1 that does this?

Does anyone have an X1 where this does work, or is it just a feature that FiiO have added which doesn't work and haven't bothered to fix it.

I searched and found other people asking about whether FiiO would add this feature ages ago on an older firmware. A FiiO representative said at the time that they were considering implementing it. Can't find much about it after that.

Thanks, rids. Pretty lame of FiiO to implement something that doesn't work, then not bother to do anything about it. Even my 9 year old Sony displays the track title. :p

Just pulled this from the X1 thread on Head-Fi

The option to choose between displaying the file name or the title is for the Now Playing screen, not your media library. So when you're browsing your music, in either category or folder view, it should show the file name.

That is not exactly intuitive :D

Haha.

If you told down menu it gives the track details including the title of the track anyway, so adding the choice of displaying the file name or title to the 'now playing' screen is rather pointless.

When I saw someone ask on FiiO's forum whether they would implement an option to view track titles when browsing the library, one of devs said if they change it, someone will complain and ask that it be changed back so file name is displayed rather than track title. I take it from that, that the dev seemed to think only one or the other was possible. Someone questioned, why not have an option for the user to choose. Seems that was beyond FiiO's capability. :p

Albums by different artists that share the same album name are lumped into one. Play Music on Android doesn't do that and neither does my old Sony. FiiO make very good hardware, but I think they need a bit of help when it comes to the software.
