Question for glasses wearers

no - you wear the (single varifocal) glasses permanently and see close/intermediate/far. ..
plus having to find a pocket to put any glasses & a phone, if that goes everywhere, you are entering handmanbag terrain.

if you do get varifocals to see really close stuff 20/30cm then making sure your eye test includes that distance is useful,
( with narrower varifocal frames I foond that for my myopia, I could look out beneath frames for close stuff as my varifocal couldn't focus well)
Yes, this is kind of my thinking, the progressives for "general" use and keep my existing glasses specifically for reading and on the computer.

So get a manbag then, or at least a sling-pack* - They're all the rage among the aging varifocal types, these days!
Besides, most clothing seems to have at least three pockets, so you can even carry your keys as well...

Going back to the programme compliance argument - What happens if you forget or don't want to wear the general use ones?
From your OP, you don't need glasses for anything except reading/PC use, so why not focus on a system that ensures you have some reading ones always to hand?

I alway try an buy warm gear with a chest pocket ... which will take a credit card and keys,
a soft glasses case is not protective, hard ones bulky (I am looking for a good alu one currently)
my father has lost glasses out of waist pockets , playing the game of I frequently need to read something close;
I don't think it is even vanity in his case.

the near vision helps driving the car too ... for touch screen/phone/instruments .. even if dvla doesn't mandate it.

Get a glasses lanyard and wear them around your neck.

I've been a glasses wearer since I was a teen and in my 50s now. Initially needed them for distance and mostly wore them when driving. I hardly ever wear them out as anything on the lens like dust or raindrops makes them uncomfortable to wear. If I need to read a menu when out I use my phone's camera.

I bought a second pair exclusively for computer use after reading a post on these forums last year. I hadn't realised how much I needed them and thought the discomfort was just age. I measured the distance from my eyes to the monitor shared these with the optician.

After spending £500 on the computer/reading glasses my sister showed me her pair from a supermarket for £15 :(

I buy the 1.50 glasses cases from Poundland. Not alu but very good for the money.
