Hi all.

I was wondering if its possible to order the tower below with x2 3.5 drive caddies instead of the one that comes with it. I need 2 and whether i buy it or not depends on me being able to get 2 caddies for it.

See the link below for the make and model im refering too.
Thermaltake VA8000SWA Armour Aluminium Super Tower - Silver (CA-006-TT)

Thanks :)

6 harddrive bays not enough?
or are you forgetting there is another rack at the top back of the case next to the psu.
If you want another of the caddies you probably going to have to order it from elsewhere. It might be worth ringing sales to check though

I have come across cases that they definitely wouldn't fit (ignoring those with not enough bays of course), although that's usually fixable if you're handy with a dremel (which I'm not, but still).

My problem is simple.

I have 10,000rpm scsi drives with an option to fit even more. The drives run very hot so i want 2 per cage with the fan blowing air across them. 3 per cage is dangerous. I have already seen 2 similar drives burn out during the summer months and wish to avoid that.

So 2 per cage, with 4 drives means i would need 2 cages to ensure the drives do not burn out during normal operations. 2 of the drives are 7200 sata and scsi so those could be placed elsewhere.

I didnt know there was 2 standard internals in it but if they are next to the power supply i will not be using them because each time my graphics card starts working the power drain on my 580w psu causes it to go supernova and the bottom fan that was designed to suck air in to the psu actually has no where to send the cool air so the cool air comes back out the same way much hotter. Its a problem ive seen with 3 psus so far from different companies. Including Hiper and akasa.

So i have other plans for the bays next to the psu, if thats what they are.

I intend to seal it of so any air sucked in or out of the psu comes from or goes directly outside the case. This solves a problem with the psu being a major source of heat.

The PSU should be sucking air from there and blowing it out of the back of the case.

I would have thought 3 scsi's in a cage wouldn't have been too bad with a permenant 120mm fan on. Have never had one mind, just working off the fact my 7200rpm drives don't even get mildly warm to the touch.
It looks like your going to have to order elsewhere, I am not sure, but I think you may be able to order direct from Thermaltake.
Its against rules to tell you anywhere else though.....

I checked the official sites "where to buy list", none had accessories for the armourer tower. Some did not even sell Thermaltake stuff. As long as i can find a place to buy the caddy, i'll probably just get the tower from here because overclockers 3 day delivery usually turns out to be 24 hours delivery and they always keep me informed by email promptly too. I prefer spending my money at companies that offer a good service. Last time i ordered from here the item said out of stock, 2 to 3 days. Still took 24 hours to come. So i like shopping here. Even if i did get lucky that time.

Btw I found it best to leave 1 drive space empty between 2 10,000 rpm drives. I have not had a drive burn out since i started doing that. But i have had fans in caddies behind 3 drives in a caddy and the airflow was blocked, the drives eventually burnt out. Took about a month for that to happen during the summer. The others where damaged and went eventually too.

Btw try putting your hand under your own psu's intake fan after a little gaming on a graphics intensive game like oblivion. Preferably using a high end card. You will notice hot air being blow out in to the case. If you dont, tell me the psu your using if its close to 600watts.

The PSU sucks in and blows out.

All do... even Qtecs...

Contact Thermaltake or there UK supplier and they will sort you out, will cost you though.

I'll check to see if they have a UK distributer. They should stock everything if they do.

Shame OC dont stock those parts, i have some other cooling relating purchesses to make that OC do sell. Would have been nice to get it all from the same shop.
