Question For Tuniq 120 Users

Depends what I'm doing really. If watching video's or playing "atmoshpheric" games that don't create a constant barrage of noise, I turn it right down.

I've never pushed my Q6600 so hard that the core temps have required it to be on full, as of yet.

well i know people are going to have a go at me but my temps use to hover in the high 30s and go upto 70 in prime so i went back to a artic freezer and temps idle are low 30s and prime goes to 60,and its way quieter than the tuniq which is like a jet engine when on,but that IMO,p.s my motherboard temp went upto 40 aswell now its back down to 30,

my idle was about 26, load was 66 with all fans on full and the side off.

now i've turned all the fans on low, and the side is still off, temps are already up to 74 within about 3 minutes, i bet in time it'll be up to 76-79, so ill put all the fans back on full. I only turn them down when im to trying and sleep.

im at 2.9Ghz and have it on Auto control. Nice and quiet when im just messing about on the internet and still cant hear it when gaming or on full load...errmm 48oC Idle...Which I think is pretty good for Auto, if the fan was on 100% it would be about 40 - 45oC?

Can anyone post a pic of the best way to fit these? And how do you know which direction the fan is blowing in?

cheers

the heatsink has an upside down 'flame' design if you want the air to blow from right to left. I recently had to refit mine cos i knocked it and my temps went up (thermal past must have smudged). it was a two man job to install if your not going to take the mobo out of your case. someone to hold it just above the cpu so the thermal paste doesnt smudge, and another to try and fit the four hand screws in place before the heatsink is finally lowered onto the cpu. to be honest it wasnt a fun job, i had to use a torch and cut my fingers on the fins of the heatsink to get the fiddly screws in place. just make sure you put the thermal past on the cpu cover, not the heatsink, and tighten the screws tight enough to get a nice snug fit. good luck, and ill put photos up if you want to see mine

young you are a braver man than me :) I fitted mine outside the case. It wasn't a difficult job, just take your time. I tightened the screws up hand tight, and checked the backplate to make sure they all protruded out the same length. When it's fitted on the mobo, just be careful when you put it in your case. I actually held the heatsink to lower it in. I did get a slight bit of movement, so once I'd secured the motherboard I gently squared up the heatsink. (My temps are fine so I can't have disturbed the heatsink too much). My 8 pin motherboard molex fits just next to the heatsink so I plugged that in, before lowering the motherboard into the case. It's a damn fine heatsink, and for the size it should be :D

Is the supplied tape for the backplate any good? I heard it was pretty lame, and some people just used their own...no-more-nails tape is tempting.:D

· Easy-peel instant grab tape.
· Temperature and UV resistant.
· Water resistant.
· Holds up to 50Kg per roll.
· Suitable for both, interior and exterior applications.
· Ideal for mounting hooks, signs, numbers, pictures, cable trucking etc...Stonking great CPU cooler backplates?

yeah, be good to see an installed pic if you don't mind. Seen the instructions before on that link liam provided but it doesn't show you anything regarding airflow.

(basically if its a bugger to fit I don't wanna have to seat it twice ;))
