ever since i got a 2nd wii mote, its behaved rather odly compared to the bluetooth controllers on my PS3. Can somebody confirm if this is normal behaviour or not ?

basically only one of my controllers works as #1 controller. If i press a on the '1 controller, it flashes the blue lights for a second, then the 1st light illuminates. If i pick up the other one, the blue lights flash for a bit longer (all of them) but it never assigns it an ID

Only way i can get it to work is if pick up the #1 controller, get that assigned to #1, then go into the menu options to add controler, then the 2nd one will get assigned as #2

does the Wii normally remember which controller is which and not let you change between them ?

On mine I can press a on either of the remotes and it automatically syncs up, regardless of whether another remote is already synced up.

No need to go into menu option to make 2nd remote works.

I think that when you buy extra remote, you need to sync it first - open the battery cover and you'll see the red button. It's also on Wii, inside the SD cover I think? Press Sync button on Wii first then remote I think, have a look at manual.

ive never done anything with the second wii mote

but if i press A it doesnt sync. Only way to get it to work is to go into the "add extra controller" option inside a game. Otherwise all the lights just flash and it never gets assigned an id (ie 1 or 2 or whatever)

do i need to do something special to register it first then ?

Special? Did I say open the battery cover? I doubt you have read my post.

by special i meant, open the battery cover and sync manually. ive just been trying to sync by pressing the A button. I never had to manually sync the first remote, so didnt realise i had to do it with the 2nd one.

poor choice of wording on my part :)

You don't have to sync the first controller because, suprise suprise, it's automatically tuned to the Wii it comes packaged with.

If you want any new controllers to work instantly (press any button and it takes the first available player position), you need to sync them with the method described above. Barnettgs told you the neccesary info already, I'm not quite sure why you asked again. You click the red button under the flap on the Wii, then you quickly press the red button under the battery cover in the remote. They scan some kind of frequency range for each other, and then lock in.

Easy peasy.

it was just because he used words like "i think" and "check the manual" i wanted some clarification

im at work so didnt have the manual to hand, and the nintendo site is blocked by work so couldnt download it.

Not the A button!

You find a RED button inside when you take out the battery cover. And also open a small cover on Wii, to find another RED button there.

I used 'I think' because I can't remember the exactly method - eg press first on Wii remote or on Wii?

It is very simple though - no need to access menu or whatsoever on screen.
