This is my cousins system,

AMD Athlon 5000+ X2 2.6ghz
2gb DDR2 6400 ram
Ati Radeon X1950xt 256mb

this is similar to the computer i may be getting and he wants to play me online at these games and wants to know how they would run:

comapny of heroes
Battlefield 2
medieval total war
css (maxed out i think?)
and also HL2 deathmatch

hes also an oblivion freak and wants to play that.

I think his monitor is 1680x1050 but it goes down to 12x10 if he needs that for the newer demanding games.

That is a very high end system. It should run new games fine, although I'd run another graphics card in crossfire if you need more power.

I think he just wanted an excuse to show off his pc spec tbh. If he already bought them I'm sure he knows they can run reasonably new games.

His monitor needs an upgrade. That is only a 1.76 megapixel monitor. These days you need at least a 3 or 4 megapixel monitor. You know, resolutions such as 2048 x 1536 or 2560 x 1600. Tell him to go for a 5.24 megapixel monitor, something along the lines of 2560 x 2048.

I also noticed the CPU has only half the number of cores it should. At least 4 is the bare minimum.

You only have a DX9 graphics card when you need a DX10, and you only have one of them.

You need another gig of ram, preferably DDR3. Another 2 gigs if you planning on running vista.

You also have no sound card so any games you buy wont run without one. Seems to be no DVD drive either so I have no idea how your going to install them. Even if you did, you don't appear to have any hard drive to install it to.

With that spec your gaming is going to be seriously limited. If you did get a DVD drive, sound card and hard drive, the current hardware would have an expected life of 6-8 months before needing an upgrade (Seriously... :D )

wtf are you on about lol, obviously he has all that stuff, im just posting the main things for gaming. Although hes using onboard sound i think.

Good old RTM :)

Anyway, some people really can't get a reasonably detailed (though long) sarcastic comment by the-void, I thought he was serious on the first line, then carried on reading :p

Someone doesnt have a sense of humour, or a clue about sarcasm. what a spud.

sarcasm all around!

looks like a good system to me, should be fine for playing those games - should be able to shove up the detail to max and aa.
