hi i have just bought a 40inch 1080 tv and would like to get a decent sound setup connected.

i would like to connect my Blu Ray player and my Sky +HD box to some 5.1 speakers that i have not yet bought but im currently looking online for.

ive looked at various 5.1 speakers that come with a subwoofer can i connect both my blu ray and sky box to the subwoofer im guessing i will need a AV switch to switch between the both?

Or do i need to buy a seperate amplifer and speakers to achieve this.

sorry if this sounds a silly question but im afraid im poor when it comes to sound setups

i know these are only 2.1s but ive heard they are decent sound quality would these allow me to connect my blu ray player and sky hd box to these? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SP-000-AE&groupid=702&catid=22&subcat=173

Depends on your budget. A cheap AIO may have 2 optical inputs which would cover some of your needs, but sound quality would be poor.

If you have more money, then a lower end AV reciever and speaker kit would be the best solution. If you can afford it, a good starter subwoofer to look at is the BK Gemini II at £199, as it punches far above its weight.
Good beginner AV amp to look at would be the Sony 820, which are about £220 inc. Speakers themselves vary, although arguably second hand would be worth looking at, or the £200-300 5 speaker kits (so you at least have speakers that sound the same)
