soon i will be upgrading from 8gb ram to 16gb but im clocked to 4.7ghz atm with my cpu, will it be best to manually clear the CMOS before i install the ram or boot up see what happens after ive installed it

Personally I would just get your memory clock in the BIOS down to stock. Don't bother with a CMOS reset, just bring down the memory for the first boot. Check the new memory is settled in nicely and working, then revert back to the old settings. That's just me though, I'm pretty cautious.

May one ask why you're wanting 16GB of RAM?
