Question on 3080 PSU 12pin connector

I have a bequiet straight power 11.
I received a 3080 FE with an adapter/splitter. Given the configuration of the Straight Power 11, it means using 2x12pins output (PSU side, for some other PSUs like EVGA is 2x8pins I believe but for bequiet there are only 12pins output) onto the adapater that turns it into a single 12 pin GPU side.
Seems a lot of hassle but it works.
In the meantime I have emailed bequiet to get a new 12 connector for the 3080. The connector they sent is 12 pin on GPU side and 12 pin on PSU side(!). Shouldn't it be 2x12 pin on PSU side? Don't I risk underpowering the GPU if I use this connector?
I have tried contacting bequiet but did not get a response.

Not sure I totally understand what you are getting at but the adapter that comes with the RTX 3080 should be 12 pin on one end and that plugs into the gpu. The other end should be 2 x 8 pin.

So your psu will have multiple pcie cables depending on the wattage. You would need to plug two pcie cables into the psu housing (They are 12 pin for the psu side) and then the 8 pin ends (Usually 6+2) plug into each 8 pin on the adapter.

The adapter shown in the review below should match the one you have ?

That's right so the adapter is exactly like you said and the one in the review. These are 2x12 pins on the PSU side with the other hand being 2x(2+6)pins. I plug the latter onto the adapter/splitter and the other end is a 12pin that I plug on the GPU. That is exactly as you described and it works well.

Second part of my question and what I also perhaps did not clarify enough is that bequiet! can ship a connector that does not require using the nvidia splitter. That's what they did after I showed them the 3080 invoice. Only the connector they sent me is a straight 12pin (on GPU side) to a 12pin (on PSU side). So what appeared odd to me is that using the nvidia splitter, I would require 2x12pin output on the PSU side but I use bequiet connector, that only requires a single 12pin on the psu side. I just wondered if bequiet! solution is right and does not risk under-powering the GPU (over overloading the cable).

Should think it will be fine. Looking at pictures of the Seasonic 12 pin cable, it does plug into 2 x 8 pin connectors on the PSU but it only uses 6 cables on each so 12 in total. So in effect you are not daisy chaining off a single 8(6+2) pin cable.

Hope this makes sense. :)

Thanks yes it does make sense. I guess the reason I started having doubts is after I replaced the cable, I noticed significantly more coil whine. My 3080 FE already had a bit of coil whine but with the new connector it became unbearable. So I proceeded to switch back to the old configuration, with the splitter. When removing the cable I also noticed it was still quite hot even after the system was shut down for a minute or so. So I started having doubts and posting on the internet. There some reddit fellow told me the cable should still be powered by two separate output on the PSU side, that is 2x12pins.

If that's the case then, it may be wise to contact Bequiet! to make them aware of your issue.

Wonder if one of the custom cable manufacturers can make one up for you? (don't know if i can name them here)

Agreed yes I did and I explained the problem. I got a reply this morning saying that on their side this is the right cable to connect. Given the bad experience I had with it, I think I am gonna stick with the splitter.
