question on 64bit apps

i have 64 bit vista.But i can install thnderbird, adaware and ccleaner all fine even though there not 64bit. does vista run them as 32 bit then?would it be wise to install these or wait for a 64bit version?

It can run any 32bit apps via emulation I think. (something like that anyway)
