Question on App positions in Metro..

Organising the Metro screen a bit and getting a bit annoyed.

When I start a new column, then add another icon, instead of putting it underneath, it creates a second column:

It seems to be it has to work in columns of 2 all the time. Any way I can change this as it is wasting loads of space.

This is just the way metro works and I don't know of a way to change it out of the box. The column is the width of two small tiles.

I expect they will introduce collapsible groups in future updates to Metro, its still evolving so I wouldn't give up hope on getting a tidier start screen.
