Question on geforce 280?

do not understand a lot of the spec?

It states its ddr3 i though gddr3 was better?

4870 Memory clocks are 3.6 the geforce 280s are like 2.3 abit slower i though they would have been faster.

gddr3 just means drr3 that's been put on a graphics card, the 4870 uses ddr5 on a 256 bit memory bus, the 280 uses ddr3 on a 512 bit memory bus, so the difference in memory bandwidth between them is fairly minimal (although i think the 4870 has the edge here?).

Also you can't compare a lot of the other specs between ati and nvidia cards as they use different architectures.
