question on i5 vs i7 sb processors

just a quick question, i read on the ocuk website about these two processors and there doesnt seem to be much differance.

i dont do much pc gaming but i do do it, i have an ati 5870 gpu. i mostly do video encoding, so................. my question is which processor should i go for an i5 or i7 and which version 2000hd or 3000hd.

i7 has hyperthreading.

So in task manager i5 shows 4 cores, i7 shows 8 (even though theres only 4 actual cores).

Theoretically video encoding etc is where the i7 should shine, although in my experience not that many encoding apps actualy use all available cores and threads.

i was thinking about the i7, the programs i use are fairly cpu intencive so once the procressor has bedded in i will oc it as i see there is some serious potential there!
