Once you have built your PC & set the bios settings am I correct in saying that the first thing you need to install is the operating system?

Even before installing drivers including the motherboard drivers, etc?

The reason i am asking is because i want to have both my hard drives in raid 0 configuration but haven't set that up yet.

Do I do this before installing the os because if so i will need to boot up the mobo dvd?

Yes, you basically have a blank system so:
- make sure cdrom/dvd drive is set to be booted from.
- boot from OS install CD, partition and format harddrive, install OS.
- install motherboard drivers, particularly network drivers if required.
- path OS to latest secure setup ( I'm assuming windows :))
- install rest of drivers etc...

That will be setup in the mobo bios or boot-up somewhere depending upon the mobo and will need to be done before installing the OS.
