I have a Linksys WAG54GS wireless router and a Linksys USB wireless adaptor with speedbooster to connect to it but recently the wireless has been a bit iffy!!
Now my PS3 has no problem connecting to the router (and its further away in the same room as my PC) so I'm assuming its the USB adaptor rather than the router itself thats the problem.

My question is, would a Linksys Rangebuster USB wireless adaptor be compatible and any better than my existing one?? (with it being listed as "rangebooster" rather than "speedbooster" would I lose some connection speed?)

Cheers,

If its a recent problem then Id say you probably don't need to change anything hardware wise.

Has anything changed that could be interfering with the signal, I know your PS3 is fine but some hardware is more sensitive than others. Try uninstalling and reinstalling with the latest drivers from Linksys. Might also try changing channels on the router.

I've only recently reinstalled my whole system so I doubt its driver related etc!?!
Was really wondering if there was a speed drop with it not being "speedbooster"?!?!?!

It depends on what you're transferring - Speedbooster achieves the extra speed by virtue of compression. On the other hand, you're extremely unlikely to get any benefit from a more expensive Rangebooster adapter.

The only reason I was considering it was I've seen the Rangebooster one for under a fiver and it seemed an inexpensive way of checking if my current USB adaptor was the problem!
As far as what I'm transferring, all it is, is my internet connection rather than files!
