Question on .NET 3.5 redist

MS has a redistributable package for download, (230MB). I says that it is a cumulative update. Does this mean that if I installed this package on a clean XP install I would also get .NET 2 & 3 and all updates or just that it will provide updates to those packages?

I don't think it covers v2.x but most likely will cover all versions of 3.

Re reading my op it isn't very clear. The package I was talking about is the .NET 3.5 sp1 full package.

It says that it includes sp2 for both .NET 2 & 3 but I am not sure whether it it needs .NET 2 & 3 to be installed first.

Really, I am wondering if I install on a fresh install will it install everything up to 3.5 sp1 including earlier versions?

It isn't very clear in the description on the MS page.

I think it's implying it installs SP2 to the earlier versions if they're already installed but won't do anything if they're not.

that one package contains 2,3 and 3.5. but i think windows update will still want to install more updates on top. then you'll need .net 4 as well.
