Hi have found a old Jessop 300 AF - NI flash gun.

I know I should test or look to see if its DSLR safe but where to look also how to test. Does anyone know how to do the test.. I have no worries about doing the test as at work they use Very Very high Voltages so i can get them to do the test but would like to know how to do it.. EG what pins to use.

I have looked for an online list of guns that are ok but cant seem to work out the right search terms so again if there is any help please let me know..

It does look like its for a Nikon AF will this work on a 300D?

Thanks
Rob

Here's a quick tutorial on measuring the flash voltage: http://www.kenrickparish.com/jgeerling/articles/photography/vivitar_285-voltage.html If yours has more than a central pin (and I'm suspecting it does) those are communications pins to allow camera and flash to communicate and can be safely ignored for now.

If the flash is Nikon dedicated you'll have to use it in manual mode on your Canon and prevent the camera from attempting to communicate with the flash. How you do this is up to you but on my minolta flash / canon camera combo I've just taped up all but the central trigger pin on the flash side and it works pefectly. ymmv!
