Hi all

Right i have a question if anyone can try and answer it . As ive tried a google but not much luck.

So here it is...

I have tri fire atm 1x 5970 1x 5870 all running fine but i feel maybe a little overkill as i only have 1x 30inch monitor.

I also have 1 x brand new gts 450 nvidia doing nothing. so i was wondering benefit from having the 5970 in and placing the nvidia in for Phyx thus saving my cpu from too much work.

Let me know what you think

Thanks

Ah ok so pointless then really . Maybe next year when more games come out ie swtor / guildwars 2 etc if they use it

Thx for the answer , If anyone else has any input it would be taken with open hands . ( about new gamer coming next year )

The PhysX will only take place on the GPU in a handful of games - Mafia II, Batman AA. and another handful.

Nope, as it's sitting doing nothing try it, it only takes as long as installing the card, drivers, and the hybrid physx hack!

I use a 5870/9800gt hybrid and find that both games mentioned look much better and metro in the tunnels is stunning, probably even better looking than crysis!

Don't forget you can also use the 450 for cuda apps too.

Going through the various posts in the gfx card section (this is not aimed at you, Martini1991), most people with ATI say physx is duff/waste of time and Nvidia owners tend to say it's great.

As I don't care for either manufacturer (as they don't give a damn about us! they just wan't our cash!) I tend to make my own decisions on what to do with my beloved PC!

You will loose frames on non-physX games as you wont have the 5870 crossfired but your other card can more than handle any game but you will get the physx if you play those games, ive played mafia II on my 5850 and at friends house with a geforce it looks nice. I try downloading the physX software drivers and turned it on in mafia II with my radeon 5850 got poor poor frame rates.
I was thinking of picking up a 9800gt for the cheap for it, but didn't see the point myself only got two games that use it. But if you got the card and the games I would.

There's only a very small amount of games that use hardware accelerated PhysX (On the GPU, an Nvidia GPU of course)

The hack isn't going to change coding.

PhysX is primarily on the CPU...
Your post backs up my point about Batman AA anyways.

Yes there are only about 4-5 games that use it, but the OP has the hardware so why not try it?
The hack is simply to enable ATI cards to be present in conjunction with an Nvidia one.
