Playing around with sbs2003 and have a problem with the Exchange side.
The server is on my home broadband and is called sbs2003 and domain ***.local. Fixed IP 192.168.x.x
I managed to get email working outbound to external addresses but nothing incoming.
I am using dyndns so am using the domain that gave me which is ***.dydns-at-home.com.
Configuring Exchange I set the DNS servers as my ISPs (Virginmedia). The webserver name I set as mail.***.dydns-at-home.com and enabled internet mail. Use DNS to route mail.
Email retieval was set to Use Exchange and delivered direct to server.
Email domain name was set to ***.dyndns-at-home.com.
Now from I have read elsewhere, including dyndns website this should work but obviously it isn't.
First thing I thought was mx record, although not fully understanding of this. dyndns says it shouldn't be neccesary.
It does have an mx option but it seems to be for different domains. It states it is for:
I have mail server with another name and would like to add MX hostname...
If I add ***.dyndns-at-home.com in the box it just ignores it and wipes it out.
Where am I going wrong?
The only other thing I am not 100% about is how the server retrieves external mail - I assume it should be automatic?
If anyone got to the end and can help, please let me know![Smile :) :)](/styles/default/xenforo/vbSmilies/Normal/smile.gif)
