Hi,

I've been asked to reinstall windows XP for a friend but they dont have a XP license, can I simply buy a OEM on its own or do I have to buy it with a board/cpu etc as per M$'s OEM guide?

I think you can just buy the software now, worst case you can buy £5.00 mouse which is classed as computer hardware.

There has been no requirement to buy peripheral hardware with an OEM licence for a while now. So, no, you can buy the licence on it's own :)

ok so I purchased one and on the box it states

"We grant you noexclusive right to distribute an individual license only with a fully assembled computer system. A fully assembled computer system means a computer system consisting of at least a central processing unit, motherboard, hard drive, power supply and case"

Also does this also apply to vista OEM's?
