What would I need to get Blu-ray playback from PC to HD TV?
My graphics card is an ATI 4850 which has a hdmi converter. TV is a Philips 720p set.
Is it just a matter of buying an internal blu-ray player? I understand though I may need additional playback software?
Also, what is hdcp and is it relevant?
Would the hdmi on the graphics carry sound also or just video?

Thanks
Andrew

hdcp is the copy protection thats carried on the HDMI cable.

i have the same gpu and works fine via hdmi. you will need powerdvd or sometyhing like it, but the LG from OCUK that i bought had a free copy of 7. something or other along with it

Thanks.
It was the LG drive I was looking at too.
On *** subject of hdcp does it NEED to be HDMI or will it work over dvi too?
I am also thinking of getting a new LCD monitor - the Samsung on special but this is only dvi. Would it work with blu-ray?

Andrew

has to be HDMI. DVI doesnt support HDCP.

you can use software like anydvdHD to get around all that copy protection nonsense though.
