Right, I'm just about putting the finishing touches to my loop and checking everything over before beginning leak testing and I've realised that I've clamped the MCW30 straight onto the northbridge with no thermal pad in between them. I did put down a dab of MX-2 on the nb as its non-conductive but now I have a feeling this is wrong.

So what if anything should I put between the MCW30 block and the NB chipset?

Thats fine :)

Aslong as you have some TIM between the block and core , is the important thing.

You can get a " NB protector pad " which sits around the NB core and helps to prevent chipping the core if the block doesn't quite go on flat.

This is optional , and will not effect the NB performance.
