Hey peeps, it turns out that I won't be able to start my build till I go back to uni :( . Since I am living in halls I was just wondering what CitiLink do.

For instance if I get a package from say Amazon then it gets put in the reception office and then I pick it up whenever. If I get something that's a recorded delivery item I have to go to the local Post Office to pick it up. Just wanted to know what the procedure is with Citilink.

Do they leave the package with reception or take it back to their depot or attempt it another day? Thanks

I believe they will except a signature from anyone at that address (or neighbours). So its up to your reception or whatever as to whether they will sign for it....

My old halls used to accept anything. It's why you should get on with the porters because I get the impression that they remember names/faces really really well.

Phone up the uni halls building/uni postal building and find out. I'm going to Bmouth in Sept and the uni has supplied me with all the numbers I would ever need to find anythig out. My new uni build is being bought bewfore uni, but I am bound to want some parts whilst there, so I'll have to contact my postal room to find out about couriers delivering.

Oh hey thanks guys, it should hopefully be okay then :) I guess I thought there might be a different procedure cos the stuff is so expensive. Guess the receptionists should be trustworthy ;)

At my Uni, the gatehouse would sign for it for you, and then you'd have to sign for it to pick it up. Never had any problems, and I've had all sorts delivered to halls, from £5 cables to a £500 notebook!

It's quite convenient too, because it means you don't have to be in Halls when the stuff gets delivered. Will definitely miss that now that I'm in a house.

Yeah I was living in a house in my first year and always had to try and get a saturday delivery which was more expensive.*sigh* I skipped a day of lectures when I got my laptop delivered though.

You skipped a day just for a laptop - most people skip a day just because they cant be bothered. When i was in 1st year in halls the official policy was reception wouldnt accept anything but if you tell them 1st and are polite then they are fine with it. Just tell them when you expect delivery and should be ok
