The wife has a sony erricson k800i that has decided to stop working(its in perfect condition, just wont switch on,small red light flashing)the phone is on a contract,so phoned the store(Phones4U) yesterday, they said the phone would have to go back for repair & can take up to 28 days.

But she still has to pay the monthly bill for the phone  Even though she wont have it

Can the store do this ? She has to pay a bill for a mobile that she can no longer use, this just dosent sound right to me

Can anyone shed any light on this for me please

Many thanks

Rob

Yes, they can do this. The airtime agreement (ie the monthly contract) does not include the phone in it's terms on the vast majority of networks. Normally when a phone goes for repair you keep your sim card and you could use this in an alternative handset.

Which network is it, you may have more luck talking to them and seeing what they can do for you to get a quicker repair/replacement.

Thanks for the info mate :D Just wanted to know where she stood before going into the store

She is with O2,so i will get her to give them a ring & see what they say as well

As you can tell,i'm not very clued up on this sort of thing, regarding contracts & stuff

Thanks again ;)

I'm not sure if O2 will want to know tbh. Not through any fault of their own I just have a feeling that the problem is in Phones4u's hands.
