Question regarding GFX cards and web browsing, why do they jump out of 2d mode?

So I have been monitoring my GFX card lately and notice when I say load reddit and start scrolling the power % jumps from 16% (lowest 2d mode) up to 57% briefly causing the temperatures to rise a good 5c for about a minute and then it goes back down.

Im wondering why as I have disabled hardware acceleration in chrome as its buggy and causes a lot of stuttering.

Anyone know why this happens?

I think you're looking at things a little too closely :). Can't answer your question but even with Chrome HW acceleration disabled, the image being rendered is still put out by the graphics cards to your monitor.

It's the HW acceleration really that bad? I'd recommend leaving it enabled or if it causes you issues, try other browsers.
I still use Chrome as one of my browsers and never notice any stuttering or anything that causes me to be concerned

Im not worried or anything I just dont know why its happening, even on pages that are just text it happens, not as if thats demanding, I understand a loaded page with media and high res photos but simple sites making the card jump out of 2d mode seems weird to me.
