I don't understand monitor spanning on window 7. so many posts say it isnt possible to use 2 or 3 or more monitors as one desktop, but 3d surround claims it can run a game accross 3 monitors in 3d, and all the pictures do not show it in a window...

If 3D surround can get a game to work accross 3 monitors, why am I struggling to get any game working accross 2 monitors, using it as one without reducing it to windowed mode and stretching it?

Basically, I have 2 monitors, running full hd. Id like to be able to set a resolution of 3840x1080 (one screen accross 2 monitors, non-3d) rather than 2 x1920x1080 so when I maximize a window or run a game full screen, it will fill both screens. This must be possible if Nvidia can do it in 3d.

I have latest video drivers for my 2 460's (sli) and I just cant figure it out!

Edit: I may have found the answer. I need 3 monitors to enable nVidia surround (the 2d version of 3d surround) but 2 monitors isn't supported. Am I correct? Currently, surround does not show as an option at all in my control panel.
