Hi,
Have an Nvidia 6800GT and am getting what I assume is memory overheating problems. Games locking up with strange patterns onscreen when this happens. Underclocking the ram seems to prolong the delay between starting a game and this happening.
The card is second hand and came with an Nv Silencer revision 2. The one with the big grey squishy thermal pads for the memory.
These pads appeared to have thermal paste on them also, on the surface where they meet the ram (as opposed to the surface where pad meets cooler)
I presume it was wrong for the thermal paste to be applied to these pads? What *are* these pads? I've never seen ones this thick before.
I guess my question is...thermal paste on the pads or not? And also, is it possible to get pads thick enough so I could replace the ones currently on the cooler?
