Hi.

I currently have an HP W19 19" TFT monitor. It's native resolution is 1440x900 and I play most games at this res. I now want to upgrade to a larger monitor to complement my new 9800GT.

I have been looking at the Samsung T240 24" monitor, but am confused by the resolutions supported (as per the downloaded manual). The only widescreen res I see listed is 1920x1200, or 16:10. This is the lowest 16:10 res listed, all others are 4:3 or 5:4.

If I try to play a game at a res unsupported by my current HP, then the screen goes black... we've all been there I am sure. My worry therefore is, that to play at 16:10 on the Samsung, I would HAVE to use the 1920x1200 max res... uh oh...

Is this correct?

You should be able to play at a resolution lower than the max res. In general LCD's look their best when using the native resolution. Also depending on the games you want to play your 9800 GT may not be fast enough to play them smoothly at 1900 x 1200.
