Question to 4090/4080 FE users.

I've got a 4090 fe, and to be honest I would probably say mine makes the same noise, although only when the fan speed goes above 50% (sorry don't know rpm). Which in real terms only happens as the gpu core approaches 70C, which doesn't happen that often, only in really demanding games and when the weather is warm like now.

The stop fan feature stops and starts the fans at 30%, and cannot be heard (by my ears).

I always put it down to the design of the cooler fin stack and not the fan, the air moving through the densely packed fins under the fan.

Good news my card is being replaced.! :)
Had a reply from Nvidia support this morning asking for my address and confirming they will replace the card.

Luckily the 7800X3D has integrated graphics as I don't have spare graphics card so I will still be able to use my pc for basic stuff.
I've tested the output from the integrated graphics 2 days ago and was impressed that the hdmi out has at least 40Gbps bandwidth as I was able to run 4k 120hz 10bit RGB HDR without any issues.
Even PS5 can't do that.!

So Nvidia sent me a prepaid fedex label for my card but the whole return process is a bit unclear to me.
Looking at the label it has weight and dimensions stated on it and while the weight of 14.68LB should be fine the dimensions are 10x8x6 inches which is smaller than the actual card not to mention any packaging.
The email with labels contains 4 of them as well as “commercial note”, one has barcode and qrcode on it and the remaining 3 only barcode. I understand that the one with qrcode and commercial note are the ones to stick on the parcel, but what to do with remaining 3.?
Also I never used fedex before and I was trying to book a collection last night using the tracking number from the label and all I got is a message displayed on the screens saying they will get in touch.
No confirmation email, no chance of picking up the date nothing.
I also looked at dropping the parcel off myself to fedex but some places seem to have parcel value limit of £75 and it isn’t clear to me which are which.
Can someone who posted their fe card to Hong Kong help here please.? @mrk I know you posted your 3080ti to Hong Kong not long ago so maybe you could help.?
Thanks.

Just received email from fedex saying they will collect it today so that’s one less thing to worry about.

What mobo? ltmatt said it could only do 4k120 chroma

Sounds like a good result, nice one.
So what clock are you now getting, voltage, temp, fan speed, application?
Haven't tested much yet but with the same undervolt (990mv) on the old card I could not get more than 2730mhz and now it is stable at 2830 and I didn't try going higher yet.
The fan still makes that buzzing noise but now I can not hear it on lowest rpm (1100) where before I could and that was the biggest issue.

Ok so while I can achieve higher clocks at the same voltage the card seems to be using more power and running hotter.
Also difference between GPU temperature and hot spot and memory temperature seems to be higher.
The card is also using more power at idle.

I don't think I've seen my 4090fe settle to over 2800, it normally sits at 2760/80 after an 1 hr or so.

With this hot weather we've had, I did look intro undervolting the 4090, but it looks like these 40 series don't play like the 30's, and undervolting seems to drop performance even though the clock numbers should indicate different. So for the past week or so I've had mine power limited to 85% instead. Just to keep the temps low, and I've not noticed an appreciable loss of any performance, which is good :)

For me undervolting it while increasing clocks over stock reduces power consumption and slightly increases performance or at least it did on my previous 4090.
It's not as effective as with 3000 series but still.
Today idle power consumption dropped to around 14W so in line with my previous 4090 and idle clocks are the same according to gpuz so don't know what is going on.
