I am just about to press the buy button for two Heatkiller waterblocks but was just having a look at my cards.

On the brace on the top of the pcb one of the screws has a sticker on it saying Warranty Void if removed.

I thought MSI didn't mind you fitting waterblocks.

Yeah I've noticed this on one of the two MSI OC cards that I had. One without a warrantly void sticker, one with. Both cards bought within three weeks of each other.

Got the Heatkiller block on my card, looks very nice

This was brought up before and someone from Overclockers said it was ok to remove as long as it was from them(Scottieb I think)

Neither of my cards have had these stickers.

Msi like gigabyte have the attitude of 'as long as you don't damage it' when it comes to cooler removal.

Cheers for all the replies guys.

One last thing ;) Can you fit any Backplate to the 7970 if I fit a Heatkiller waterblock or does it have to be a Heatkiller backplate?

Another question if I may ;)

I was just doing a last check on Cooling Configurator and it shows my graphics card as:

MSI R7970-2PMD3GD5/OC Radeon HD 7970 3GB GDDR5 (V277-003R)

My card definitely has this model number but it doesn't have V277-003R on the box at all. Mine has V277-001.

Will this matter?

They don't mind as long as it was bought from OcUK:

it's simples really

Buy MSI VGA from OcUK
carefully remove cooler
carefully fit aftermarket cooling
enjoy
if, god forbid, the card becomes faulty
carefully remove aftermarket cooling
carefully refit original cooling with suitable TIM
return to OcUK for RMA
wait for OcUK to send you your replacement

If you don't buy the MSI card from OcUK then you aren't officially covered

ScottiB was the MSI rep, but recently switched to OcUK.
