Guys,

Running a Q6600 and a Freezer Pro 7.

What kit would you recommend if I converted and become a water baby?

Now I know nowt about water and whats needed so please if possible any chance of a pre-made kit or bits that go together like bread and butter.

Regards.

PS,

Make it cheap as possible, I work for a living you know :)

Happy new year.

PPS,

Also, would I need to change my case?

at idle speedstep would put the quad to 2.5ghz....so 27c could be possible.

I'm not saying it's not possible - but have you seen a 3.8GHz overclock that's stable with C1E/TM1&TM2/Speedstep turned on?

I'm running 1.45V (measured with a multi-meter) to get 3.82GHz with one of the best Quad-core blocks around, a high flow pump and a PA120.3 and mine idles at 35C and loads at 50-55C in an 18C room.

The block on that Swiftech is based on the original Apogee GT block (not the GTX) and as far as I'm aware isn't bowed at all, so why would it suddenly be super-effective with a Quad?

Id be interested in that setup. But if needs be could it be expanded for anything that may crop up in the future.

Also would I need to change my case?

I've never turned speedstep off, but then again I've never had a stable clock above 3.6ghz

...but also I don't really understand how speedstep can make an unstable overclock.

Shouldn't need to change case, so long as you have 120mm fan mounts I can't think of any case that wouldn't fit the swiftech all in one kit.

OK - lets say your CPU needs 1.45V to be stable under load. Speedstep comes along and cuts that to 1.15V and drops the FSB. When the load cuts back in, how quick is the extra voltage applied? Not fast enough usually, hence the instability.

Speedstep (and C1E) is most definately OFF, I'm running orthos at the moment, only had the system installed for a matter of hours, so am unsure as to wether the temps will settle/bed in any further.

Secondly, its not at 3.8GHz at the moment (that was on vapochill), I really should get my sig updated. Its at 3.4GHz currently, with 1.37v.

Well, orthos is still running, but an hour of 95-100% load has seen a "high" of 46ºc, but its averaged at 43ºc, going to leave it running for the next 3 hours.
