If I want to suspend a fan over the motherboard to provied extra cooling to certain components like the northbridge, does this do the job ?

Yup this does the job really well in my case. I have a 120mm fan positioned over my RAM modules and it cools them down really well. Does a much better job than my old 92mm held diagonally with rubber bands. However depending on the layout of your motherboard you might not be able to reach components on the other side of the pci slots. There may also be issues with tall CPU heatsinks such as the scythe ninja. The brackets great value for money and serves a very good purpose.

I have one of these parked over my Zalman flower cpu cooler. Its a good bit of kit as it lets you use a bigger fan and helps keep things quiet.

DO check that your case has standard screws for the PCI brackets as mine doesn't and I can't fit it on

use motherboard risers.

i've got hte bracket and ive attached it to the motherboard tray screw holes on my stacker and it sits over my graphics card.

So it's nearer to the closed side of the case? (i.e the mobo tray?)
